Judas the Iscariot

What we can learn from Judas life?

  • JUDAS LOVED MONEY

John 12:6 says, “He did not say this because he cared about the poor but because he was a thief; as keeper of the money bag, he used to help himself to what was put into it.”

The enemy can use your earthly desires as a way of tempting you to sin.

  • JUDAS HAD A CHANCE TO CHANGE

John 13:21-27 says, “21 After he had said this, Jesus was troubled in spirit and testified, “Very truly I tell you, one of you is going to betray me.”

22His disciples stared at one another, at a loss to know which of them he meant. 23One of them, the disciple whom Jesus loved, was reclining next to him. 24Simon Peter motioned to this disciple and said, “Ask him which one he means.”

25Leaning back against Jesus, he asked him, “Lord, who is it?”

26Jesus answered, “It is the one to whom I will give this piece of bread when I have dipped it in the dish.” Then, dipping the piece of bread, he gave it to Judas, the son of Simon Iscariot. 27As soon as Judas took the bread, Satan entered into him.

Even when confronted with sin, our fleshly desires allows the enemy to have a foothold in our lives.

  • THERE IS ALWAYS REGRET AND COVICTION WHEN WE SIN

Matthew 27:3 says, “When Judas, who had betrayed him, saw that Jesus was condemned, he was seized with remorse and returned the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and the elders.

Sin will give you temporary pleasure but eternal guilt. We later learn in scripture that the guilt was so strong Judas eventually hanged himself.

The key is not to let the enemy have a foothold in our lives. We allow this to happen when we sin. The only way we overcome this is by committing our lives to Jesus.

Overcoming any temptation requires you to acknowledge your flesh is weak and ask God for strength every day so that you do not fall to sin. We should never underestimate being humble before God and asking for help because the more we come to know the truth and realize why isbofnthe earth is only temporary the more we depend on his wisdom
