Jesus Heals the Sick

When I was growing up, my siblings and I used to play a game about sharing News. We would start by asking, “Good News or Bad News!” We would then always say the bad news first so that we would finish by sharing the Good News. We all love to hear good news because it’s good.

In today’s scripture, we understand what the good news of the Kingdom is-healing every disease and sickness. This gives us a clear picture of what is to come when we pray ‘let your kingdom come’. In the kingdom of God, there is no sickness or disease. Jesus came to show us what the kingdom will be like, what heaven will be like, no more suffering, no more pain. Our role as Christians is to mirror Christ’s behaviour, in our capacity, we show people what the Kingdom of God is like!

When feeding a hungry person, you are revealing what the kingdom of God is like, because there is no hunger in God’s Kingdom.

When you pray for someone to be healed and they become healed, you are showing them what the kingdom of God is like, because there is no sickness in God’s Kingdom.

When you clothe the poor, you are showing them what the kingdom of God is like, because there is no Poverty in the kingdom of God.

When you start replicating the kingdom of God, people will start gravitating towards you, which happened everywhere Jesus went-” Large crowds from Galilee, the Decapolis, Jerusalem, Judea, and the region across the Jordan followed him.” (verse 25).

God is revealing to us what it will be like when we are restored to Him. As we dedicate our lives to Him in this season, let us mirror Christ’s behaviour and show people what the Kingdom of God is like.

I absolutely love today’s devotion. “They Kingdom come” is part of the Lord’s Prayer and we’ve prayed it probably a million times over the span of our lives, yet we don’t stop to think what it means. Thanks for reminding us that it is through our deeds, through our daily interaction with the people we meet that we can demonstrate God’s Kingdom to others and win souls to Christ. Hallelujah
