Today’s devotional is written by Doris. Dolly (as she is known to our kids) has been such a blessing to our family and I’m sure you are going to be blessed by what she is sharing today!
Today’s Bible reading comes from the book Psalms, chapter 23 & 37.
Psalm 23 (NIV)
A psalm of David.
1 The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing.
2 He makes me lie down in green pastures,
he leads me beside quiet waters,
3 he refreshes my soul.
He guides me along the right paths
for his name’s sake.
4 Even though I walk
through the darkest valley,[a]
I will fear no evil,
for you are with me;
your rod and your staff,
they comfort me.
5 You prepare a table before me
in the presence of my enemies.
You anoint my head with oil;
my cup overflows.
6 Surely your goodness and love will follow me
all the days of my life,
and I will dwell in the house of the Lord
forever.
Psalms 37:1-9 (NIV)
A Psalm of David.
1 Do not fret because of those who are evil
or be envious of those who do wrong;
2 for like the grass they will soon wither,
like green plants they will soon die away.
3 Trust in the Lord and do good;
dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture.
4 Take delight in the Lord,
and he will give you the desires of your heart.
5 Commit your way to the Lord;
trust in him and he will do this:
6 He will make your righteous reward shine like the dawn,
your vindication like the noonday sun.
7 Be still before the Lord
and wait patiently for him;
do not fret when people succeed in their ways,
when they carry out their wicked schemes.
8 Refrain from anger and turn from wrath;
do not fret—it leads only to evil.
9 For those who are evil will be destroyed,
but those who hope in the Lord will inherit the land.
Who do you put your trust in?
Who do you turn to when you need anything?
Today I want us to focus on the truth that GOD is our source, for everything. It is He who provides every good thing in our life.
John 3:27 says “A man can receive nothing (he can claim nothing at all unless it has been granted to him from heaven) for there is no other source than the sovereign will of God. (AMP)
- The job you have
- The house you live in
- The food on your table
- The good health you enjoy
- The privileges you have
- The business and clients you have
- The opportunities you come across… don’t think you earned them. It was God’s Grace.
Every good thing, big or small, comes from the Lord.
All you have ever needed. It is the hand of the Lord that has provided. It is not your strength, your ability, your beauty, your networks, your connections or your wit…it is from God. God’s Grace has availed these to you.
Today, as we pray and fast, let us meditate on this word and ask God to be our source this 2021.
Some of us may be worried whether we will still have our jobs, whether will able to make ends meet, whether that contact will be renewed, whether that debt will be paid etc. The future may seem bleak and uncertain and we don’t know where our next penny or client will come from. Worry not, God IS your source, He will release the resource. Make that your prayer for 2021.
Prayer

Amen , What does worrying do for us ? Nothing but put us in negative head space , although this is easier said than done we can slowly but surely we can alter the way we think and act , with strength from the almighty
“God IS the source, he will release the resource” – that hit a spot for me. I for one struggle with letting go and letting God. I try fix things myself yet God knows what’s best and how to handle a situation for me.
Amen ,Amen this is a reminder to me that I do not need to try and solve everything and fix the problems but rather take it to God and leave it at his feet, praying and asking God to take control as he is thenonly source ,my redeemer..thank you
